The Maddox Twin Lakes Ranch is comprised of over 2,000 acres of rolling hills near Fairfield, Texas. The ranch is primarily improved coastal pasture; much of the unimproved land is enclosed in game fencing, where intensive management of axis, fallow and whitetail deer occurs. Several lakes are present on the ranch; these are managed for trophy largemouth bass.
The ranch cow herd consists of approximately 600 purebred Angus and Angus cross mother cows. Both artificial insemination and embryo transfer are used extensively on the ranch. Ranch herd bulls used represent the best in modern Anugus genetics.

The Maddox’s decision to raise purebred Angus was based on business logic, as well as the love for the cattle business. . . The Angus breed is recognized as the preeminent beef breed; known for fertility, calving ease, high growth and carcass superiority. Ken Maddox started with Angus show calves approximately forty years ago, while Lori was raised on a family wheat farm in Western Oklahoma on which Angus steers were wintered.
The primary goal of the ranch is to produce low birth weight, high growth Angus bulls and sound functional females that offer the superior carcass traits that the 21st century cattleman requires. To accomplish this, some of the top cow families in the Angus breed are represented in the Twin Lakes Program.
Approximately 70 Angus bulls are annually sold by private treaty at the ranch. Approximately 100 Angus based commercial bred heifers will also be marketed to provide our bull customers with a consistent source of quality. An annual female sale is held on the last Saturday of April, with approximately 80 registered females of all ages sold.
